JKB Racing has long been regarded as one of Tasmania’s leading training operations. 

With decades of experience and a legacy of excellence, John Blacker, a Tasmanian Hall of Fame trainer, has built a business he is immensely proud of around Tasmanian thoroughbred racing. Our state-of-the-art facilities, spread across two stables in Tasmania, are unmatched in the state and dedicated solely to our horses' well-being.

After spending two years training in Victoria, John returned in 2013 to base our operations at TasRacing’s Training Complex in Longford, just 20 minutes from Launceston and home to the renowned New Year’s Day Longford Cup Meeting. In 2023, we expanded to the southern end of the state with a new base in Brighton, headed up by Tammy Mollrose.

John's passion for Tasmanian thoroughbred racing is evident in his active participation in Yearling sales both locally and across Australia. This dedication allows us to continually build a high-quality team of horses.
