Training Agreement
Racing Australia introduced new reforms commencing on 1st August 2107. First announced in November 2016, these measures are known as the Trainer and Owner Reforms (TOR) and have been incorporated into the Australian Rules of Racing.
The reforms are intended to provide greater certainty and clarity in the relationship between owners and trainers as well as between multiple owners of a horse. They are aimed at encouraging on-time payments of fees and introduce a streamlined process to resolve issues where payments are not made in a timely fashion.
A standard training agreement has been developed by The Macquarie Legal Practice which provides protection for both parties in accordance with the relevant legislation. The agreement has been endorsed by the Australian Trainers' Association.
