Stable update | August 2024
It’s been a whirlwind of activity at JKB Racing over the last few months! We opened a new stable base at the Brighton Training Complex, just outside Hobart and how quickly it has become a hive of activity. Our track performances have been stellar, and behind the scenes, our team continues to work tirelessly. We’ve cherished sharing our achievements with our amazing network and are exceptionally proud of our horses’ outstanding performances on the track. Our yearlings this year are particularly promising as we gear up for their debut later in the year, hopefully culminating in the Magic Millions Tasmanian Race Series in February 2025. Here’s to many more wins ahead of the Summer Carnival of Racing!
A champion trainer once more
After an impressive performance for JKB Racing over the summer racing carnival and the autumn winter season we are thrilled to announce that John has clinched the 2023/24 Tasmanian Trainers Premiership. Three wins sealed the title a fortnight ago on the 21st July in Hobart and on the final meeting season, 28th July, once again our Team finished the day with 4 winners! A huge testament to the quality of horses in our stable and the level of attention to each horse John & the team provide. To add to this success, John also secured the Devonport Racing Club’s Season Trainer’s Premiership. These victories mark the culmination of a fantastic season that officially wrapped up on the last day of July.
Consistent Performances and Promising Winners
The past few months have seen JKB Racing maintain a strong presence on the track with consistent winners across multiple meetings. Notably, at three Hobart meetings, we celebrated four winners on the day. Among the standout performers have been:
- Press For Boom
- Stardarmus
- Perola
- Montezulu
- Cool Conquest
These 5 horses are proud graduates of the Tasmanian Magic Millions Sales.
We are also proud to report stable favourites, Blonde Suspect, Fake Magic, Zewinna, Page and Champagne Cinders are currently finding the best form of their careers.
Brighton Stables Success
Since opening our Brighton Stables in October 2023, we've been fortunate to assemble a stellar team headed up by Tammy Mollross, with Kym Barr, Jazmine Barr, Mark Lomasney, Imogen Scott, and Bailey Langmack forming an excellent Southern squad for JKB Racing. We’ve already celebrated eight winners from this team, a remarkable achievement in such a short time since the stables' establishment late last year.
New Look Website and Yearling Shares
We are excited to unveil our refreshed website, featuring all our 2024 yearling shares, which are now live. As of August 1st, these yearlings officially turn two years old with all of them nominated for the upcoming Magic Millions Tasmanian Race Series. We can’t wait to see how these promising yearlings go on the track, so if you’d like to be a part of their journey you can access shares HERE or via the button below.
Happy birthday to our Thoroughbreds
August 1st marks a special day in the Thoroughbred Racing world as all of our Thoroughbred horses turn a year older! We are horse people first and foremost so we love to celebrate the birthdays of our wonderful horses and maybe with an extra apple or carrot good measure! We look forward to another year of success and growth for our beautiful stable of Thoroughbreds.
Welcoming New Team Members
We are delighted to welcome new staff members to our Longford team: Sienna Robson, Rachelle Chitty, Maddi Dann, and Bridget Hay, all of who will be under the guidance of Laura Blacker whilst they learn the ropes. We look forward to introducing them to you over the coming months and are excited to see the positive impact they will bring to JKB Racing.
That’s all for August. Stay tuned for more updates and news from JKB Racing Tasmania as we continue to strive for excellence on and off the track. Thank you for your ongoing support.
