Autumn Stable Update
Great results for our team both on and off the track.
Now that the dark winter mornings and nights have well and truly set in, it’s time to reflect on what has been an exciting autumn for the JKB Racing team.
Wonderful recognition for a Tasmanian racing industry stalwart
We were absolutely thrilled to see Mick O’Grady nominated for a national Dedication to Racing award at the Australian Stud & Stable Staff Awards 2022. The award aims to recognise those who are pivotal in keeping the racing industry thriving through their hard work, devotion and love of horses. Being a national finalist was a huge achievement and we could not have been prouder. Unfortunately Mick didn't take home the top gong, however, his nomination and finalist status is a true testament to his achievements in over 40 years in the racing industry.
A true all-rounder and an absolutely brilliant horseman with a work ethic that is second to none. Well done Mick!
Results on the track for young and old
It’s been great to see both our more experienced horses and also our up-and-comers produce some rides including:
Blaze Forth
Blaze Forth took out the Tasmanian Wine Centre Open Hcp in Hobart on Sunday the 8th of May. He continues to give at every start and in a quality field once again proved what an exceptional horse he is. At 9 years old, it was his 16th win, ridden by Chelsea Baker. Tas Racing also provided a wrap up of his impressive win, which you can find here.
Port Berry
She may not be the biggest horse but she definitely had the biggest heart and dug deep for an exciting win in Devonport on Sunday the 15th of May. A great run, helped along by a super ride from Siggy Carr, saw her take out Race 4, the Tasmanian Horse Transport M/C1 1650m. We were incredibly proud of her efforts!
Further North
After a very long campaign, we saw a terrific run from her on Sunday 22nd of May in Hobart. She ran a good 2nd in her previous start on the same track and we were quietly confident for a good outing. A near-perfect ride from Anthony Darmanin sealed the deal and she came away with the chocolates.
Cloudy Nights
What a super effort from our wonderful filly on Sunday 29th May in Devonport. We were incredibly grateful that so many of her many owners were there to experience such a thrilling win. A superb ride from Siggy Carr resulted in a very impressive run. Tas Racing provided a wrap up of her performance which you can find here.
