TASBRED Bonus 2022/23

The TASBRED bonus has returned for the 2022/23 racing season.

So what exactly is the TASBRED Bonus Scheme?

The scheme applies to 95 races across the 2022/23 season in the form of a $16,000 bonus that is paid to the ownership group upon their eligible horse winning a TASBRED nominated race - in addition to the race’s prize money. The scheme originally applied to 72 races in the 2020 season so it’s been great to see this increase for the current season, offering up plenty of opportunities for lucky owners!

The bonuses on offer account for an extra 2 million dollars available to eligible 2YO, 3YO and 4YO horses who meet the criteria during the current season in Tasmania.

To be eligible, yearlings must:

• Be Tasmanian sired

• If interstate sired (breedback) the mare must be Tasmanian owned and have been served by a stallion that stood in Tasmania during the following year’s breeding season – based on the Australian Stud Book

• Be Tasmanian reared (the foal and dam must have resided in Tasmania for at least 6 continuous months between when the foal was born and the foal’s first birthday as listed by the Australian Stud Book

Bonuses are offered on the following races throughout the 2022/23 season:

• All 2YO maiden races

• Selected 2YO Handicaps up to 1400m, under $30,000 prize money

• All 3YO maiden races

• Selected 3YO Handicaps up to 1400m, under $30,000 prize money

• Selected 2YO/3YO & up maiden 1200m, 1400m & 1600m races

• Selected Maiden / Class 1 1600m & 2100m

• 2 x TASBRED only races with prize money of $50,000

So, as you can see there are plenty of opportunities to not only experience the excitement of racehorse ownership, but to cash in on winning rides!
